Problem Solver Creative Thinker Compassionate Leader Inquisitive Mind

Hi! I’m Samantha Palmer.

I’m a lover of life who strives to be the best I can be while helping those around me accomplish the same. My appetite for learning new skills, knowledge about the world around me, and how to improve in all capacities of life allows for continual growth.

My passion is marketing and business development. When I’m not developing promotion strategies or building organizational efficiency systems you can find me in the mountains with my four daughters, practising my fiddle, or cuddled up in my hammock immersed in a good book.

My mission is to achieve success through problem-solving, creativity, and kindness.
By ensuring that I live to my fullest potential I can be a positive and influential leader to those around me.

Strengths & Skills

Problem-Solving

By far, the most important job I have had in my life is raising my daughters.

Since having my first baby nearly 16 years ago I have spent most of that time as a stay-at-home mom. Having this time with my children as their primary caregiver has given me an opportunity to not only watch them grow, but to encourage and allow growth within myself as well.

Problem solving is a strength of mine that has been developed predominantly through experiences that I have had with my children and as my time as a mother; both as a stay-at-home mother and as a mother working-out-of-the-home.

Multi-tasking, adaptability, time management, resourcefulness, conflict resolution, decision making and patience are all crucial components of being an effective problem solver. These are all skills that I have had to utilize on a daily basis as a mother and thus, have developed into practices that are purposeful in all other areas of my life.

My problem-solving abilities have proven to be immensely useful throughout my time in university, as well as within various roles of employment. I have been able to efficiently navigate challenging scenarios and provide solutions that have resulted in successful and lucrative outcomes. For example, I have implemented systems to streamline marketing strategies that has increased company revenue.

My problem-solving skills are constantly being improved intentionally and subconsciously.

Creativity

I try to allow for an opportunity for my creativity to shine in every aspect of my life. My day-to-day activities with my children require that I come up with creative solutions, the activities that I enjoy – such as reading, writing, and playing music – enhance my creative skills, and my professional duties demand use of my creative brain.

One of my greatest creative accomplishments is the creation and development of a company that I co-founded called Little Adventures Company. I have either independently designed or have been a supportive force on all aspects of the company from the logo to the business model to the social media content.

The business model has been evolving since its creation in 2019. By being analytical of key performance indicators, as well as listening to feedback from brand enthusiasts I have been able to conceptualize creative solutions and ideas to improve our business as a whole.

I have been able to implement much of what I’ve learned surrounding the creative process of developing my own business to other endeavours that I’ve pursued, including digital content development and management for other companies.

Creativity empowers me to think beyond the ordinary, inspiring innovation and fresh perspectives. This skill is invaluable and showcases my capacity to think innovatively, critically analyze problems, and adapt to change. I am confident that this creative mindset will unlock opportunities for personal and professional growth as I continue on my  journey.

Interpersonal Communication

After spending many years mostly interacting with children it was a transition to begin working with adults on a daily basis.

I began my position as Administrator and Sales Associate at Pressland General in 2021. My position required me to constantly interact with coworkers, clients, and customers.

As I began developing processes and strategies for business development I had to consistently be acutely aware of my communication with upper management and fellow staff members. If I was unable to effectively communicate a process or reasoning behind a strategy it was necessary to re-evaluate my approach to make it more comprehensive. I became a clear and concise communicator because of this experience.

The demographic of shoppers at the store was vast. When I was in my role as sales associate I had the opportunity to connect with a variety of different personalities. I was able to develop relationships with several of the customers and clients of the store. In doing this, I learned how to understand people and what the best way to approach them was. Most importantly, I was able to achieve a balance of building relationships while advocating for the brand and building sales for the company.

Being a part of the social media content creation team for Pressland General gave me experience in adapting to a brand voice to be able to efficiently write copy on the company’s behalf, which is a crucial part of being a skilled communicator in the digital marketing world.

Leadership

In 2018 I became a Postpartum Doula. I quickly got a job as a contractee for the Ministry of Children and Family Development working with high-risk parents and their children.

I worked mostly with women who had a history of significant trauma. My interaction with them was intended to give them the guidance and tools to be able to raise their babies and children in a healthy way.

While I was doing this I ran a website that provided these women, and many online viewers with information on pregnancy and postpartum. I did research to compile information from paediatricians and experts in the field to ensure that I was providing accurate and current information.

I injected my own personality and opinions into the articles. This helped develop a relationship with my readers. I had women that I was working with personally, as well as women from around the world reach out to me to express their gratitude for my honesty. These women needed non-judgemental compassion as they were navigating their way into their motherhood journey; I was there to provide them with that.

My career as a Postpartum Doula ended in 2020 when the pandemic hit and my focus turned to my children and pursuing a new career. However, I continue to nurture and encourage women in my physical and online communities whenever possible as it truly takes a village to raise a mother to raise a child.
